Anwar Urges PKR Members To Strengthen Reform Agenda At Sarawak Convention

KUCHING — Anwar Ibrahim has called on members and leaders of People’s Justice Party (PKR) to remain steadfast in strengthening the party’s reform agenda and commitment to justice for all Malaysians.

Speaking at the JUSTICE Mini Convention and officiating the party’s Sarawak Branch Annual General Meeting, Anwar said the gathering with party members was important as PKR represents more than just a political organisation, but a movement born out of the determination to bring change, uphold justice and elevate the dignity of the people.

He stressed that the country’s progress must be enjoyed by all segments of society and not be confined only to the elite.

According to Anwar, the party has long championed issues affecting communities across the country, including matters related to traditional land in Sarawak as well as the welfare of people in Sabah, Kelantan, Perlis, and Johor.

He said Malaysia would only remain peaceful and strong when national interests are prioritised beyond narrow sentiments based on race, locality or group affiliations.

Anwar also reminded party leaders, members and activists that the real challenge in implementing reforms comes when a party is entrusted with power.

While acknowledging that not all reforms can be implemented as quickly as desired, he stressed the importance of remaining consistent in efforts to implement change and deliver the best for the people.

He added that the party’s strength lies in its grassroots network, including branches, the youth wing and the women’s wing, which continue to drive the party’s struggle to build a fair, prosperous and dignified Malaysia.
