20 Skills Programme Graduates Receive Job Offers in Johor

KOTA KINABALU, October 23 2026, Twenty graduates of the Certificate in Precision Micro-Soldering & Electronics Technopreneurship programme have received job offers from GN Resound Malaysia in Johor after completing specialised training in electronics and high-precision micro-soldering.

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the job offers resulted from a strategic partnership between GN Resound Malaysia and Gain Forlife to provide skills training and employment opportunities for Sabahans.

He said the collaboration had produced nearly 400 graduates through 27 training cohorts, with participants subsequently receiving job offers in Johor.

“Initiatives like this demonstrate that strategic partnerships with industry can provide a clearer career pathway for Sabahans, particularly those seeking opportunities to improve their livelihoods,” he said.

Ewon was speaking at the presentation ceremony for employment appointment letters to the 20 graduates yesterday.

He congratulated GN Resound Malaysia, represented by Dr Sebastian Tin, and Gain Forlife, represented by its managing director Nelson Mosinoh, for their commitment to the programme.

Ewon said the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET) would continue supporting efforts to expand Gain Forlife’s training programmes to help more locals acquire skills and secure employment.

Starting next year, the ministry will also work with Gain Forlife to introduce entrepreneurship components into the training programme.

He said the initiative aimed to equip graduates not only with technical skills required by the industry but also with basic business knowledge, enabling them to establish their own businesses and create employment opportunities in the future.

According to Ewon, the approach aligns with the Sabah First vision introduced through MINDET, which aims to help more Sabahans achieve stable incomes and greater economic independence.

The vision focuses on two key approaches: empowering people to become business owners or entrepreneurs, and helping them secure employment in the industrial and business sectors.

Ewon said expanding economic opportunities had been one of his priorities since taking charge of MINDET in December last year, particularly in addressing poverty and unemployment in Sabah.

He acknowledged that the state’s unemployment rate remained an ongoing concern and stressed the need to strengthen investment attraction, industrial development and entrepreneurship to generate more economic opportunities.

He also reminded the graduates to maintain close family ties, especially when working far from home.

“Career success is not measured by income alone, but also by how we fulfil our responsibilities towards our families,” he said, urging them to stay in touch with and care for their parents.

Ewon expressed hope that the job offers would mark the beginning of better careers for the graduates, while providing opportunities to further develop their skills and explore entrepreneurship in the future.

He said the initiative reflected the Sabah First aspiration of producing more skilled Sabahans who could secure employment, earn a living and build a better future.
