Sarawak PAS Targets Four Seats in 13th State Election

KUCHING, Oct 24 — Sarawak PAS is targeting to contest four seats in the upcoming 13th Sarawak State Election, including Beting Maro, Samariang and Sebuyau.
Sarawak PAS commissioner Mohammad Arifiriazul Paijo said the party was still considering a fourth seat in the northern region of the state, possibly within the Bintulu or Sibuti parliamentary constituency.

He said the final decision would be subject to approval by the party’s top leadership.

According to him, the selection of seats took into account the party’s election preparations, which had begun earlier, as well as its experience contesting in Sarawak since 2001.

PAS has yet to win a state seat in Sarawak since it first contested in the state in 2001.

The party currently has more than 8,000 members in Sarawak, including 1,423 registered members in Beting Maro, where it has eight active branches.

Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced on Oct 23 that the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly would be dissolved effective Oct 26 to pave the way for the 13th state election.
