MELAKA, October 27 2026, Pakatan Harapan (PH) is highlighting its candidate Datuk Azman Abidin’s experience in federal administration as it prepares to contest the Paya Rumput seat in the upcoming Melaka state election.
Acting Melaka PKR chief Adam Adli Abd Halim said Azman’s background in the Prime Minister’s Office could help him understand residents’ concerns and work towards addressing local needs.
Adam Adli said the party had selected an experienced candidate who could contribute to the development of the constituency.
He made the remarks during the opening of PH’s Paya Rumput operations room and a meet-and-greet session with PKR members and campaign workers from the Tangga Batu division.
Federal Experience and Local Development
According to Adam Adli, Azman’s experience at the Prime Minister’s Office had exposed him to government policymaking, implementation, agency management and the coordination of allocations.
He said this experience could help Azman focus on issues affecting Paya Rumput residents, particularly basic infrastructure, welfare and community development.
Adam Adli also said links with the federal administration could help address local concerns and speed up the implementation of development projects, although the outcome would depend on the relevant processes.
He stressed that an elected representative should do more than listen to residents’ problems. The representative should also work through the appropriate channels to seek solutions.
Melaka Election Dates Confirmed
The Election Commission has set November 14, 2026, as polling day for the 16th Melaka State Election. Nomination day is scheduled for October 31, while early voting will take place on November 10.
The Paya Rumput contest is part of the wider state election, in which parties are seeking voters’ support across Melaka.
