KOTA BHARU, Oct 31 – The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) did not intervene in the decision to return former Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said the decision was an administrative matter handled by the Home Ministry.
He explained that the AGC’s role is to provide legal advice. However, the matter involving Mohd Shuhaily had not been referred to the Chambers for an official opinion.
AGC Says Decision Falls Under Home Ministry
Mohd Dusuki said the AGC had no role in deciding whether Mohd Shuhaily should remain with AKPS or return to PDRM.
He stressed that the decision was an administrative responsibility of the Home Ministry, also known as KDN.
Mohd Dusuki made the remarks to reporters after attending the opening ceremony of the handover of recreational infrastructure under the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme at Kampung Kok Lanas.
Mohd Shuhaily Returns to PDRM
The issue follows an announcement by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on Thursday.
Saifuddin confirmed that Mohd Shuhaily had returned to duty with PDRM following a decision made the previous week.
Mohd Shuhaily previously served as the director-general of AKPS, which oversees border control and protection.
