KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 – Police are investigating allegations that several lawyers harassed a forensic doctor involved in the case of detainee Noorizwan Zulkefly.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar said the doctor had lodged a police report.
Police are investigating the complaint under Sections 506, 186 and 189 of the Penal Code.
Kumar said investigators had recorded statements from the doctor and three lawyers linked to the case. They are also taking statements from Noorizwan’s family members.
Police to Refer Death Investigation to AGC
Meanwhile, police will submit the investigation papers into Noorizwan’s death to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on Wednesday, Nov 4.
The case is being handled by the Prosecution/Legal Division (D5) of Bukit Aman CID. Police are investigating the death under Section 331 of the Penal Code.
The AGC will review the investigation papers and consider the next steps.
Forensic Findings Show External Injuries
A forensic medicine consultant from Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz had reported external injuries on several parts of Noorizwan’s body.
The injury pattern was consistent with blunt-force trauma. The findings also indicated that the injuries were not self-inflicted.
However, the full post-mortem report has not yet been received. Therefore, the cause of death has not been confirmed.
Police are waiting for further information as the investigation continues.
