CHUKAI — A total of 401,000 vehicles are expected to enter Terengganu in conjunction with Aidiladha and the school holidays starting this Friday.
Terengganu Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin, said the number involved vehicles using Federal roads and the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2).
He said the expectation was made based on annual monitoring carried out collaboratively with LPT2 based on annual data and records.
“The total increase in traffic flow is expected to occur on LPT2 and main roads in the state. The average daily traffic flow is estimated to be 33,000 to 34,000 vehicles during this period,” he said after officiating the MADANI Student Transformation Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Chukai, here, on Wednesday.
Also present was the Director of the Terengganu State Education Department, Kamsah @ Kamal Mohamed.
Mohd Khairi said that Terengganu Police will implement a comprehensive Ops Lancar in hot spots and areas that are expected to experience an increase in vehicles during the festival and holiday period.
“A total of 500 police personnel and officers from all districts will be assigned to ensure safety and smooth traffic throughout the period,” he said.
In a separate development, he said that his department recorded four cases of bullying involving students in the state from January to May this year.
“The four bullying cases involved three primary school students while the other involved a secondary school student,” he said.
