KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — Police have confirmed that a fake bomb threat was received at a prominent building in the capital last night.
Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said his department received a call about the incident at 9.09pm from a security guard at the building.
“The security guard informed us that he had received an email sent to the customer service centre saying that someone had placed a bomb on the 23rd floor of the building’s north tower,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
Hoo said the Bomb Disposal Unit, Detection Dog Unit and Forensic Unit were then deployed to the location to conduct a search and found it to be a false threat.
“The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Commission Act 1998 and Section 507 of the Penal Code,” he said.
