SEREMBAN: The official notification notice regarding the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) will be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) today.
Negeri Sembilan State Assembly Speaker Datuk MK Ibrahim Abd Rahman said he would sign the notice before sending it to the EC.
He said the submission of the notice was to inform the EC of the dissolution of the state assembly which had been approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, yesterday.
“After I sign, the notice will be sent to the EC today. It is up to the EC to act on the notice to determine the appropriate and suitable time to hold the State Election (PRN),” he told Bernama here, today.
Yesterday, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced that the state state assembly would be dissolved effective today to pave the way for a general election within 60 days.
The 15th state election in 2023 saw the political coalition of PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) form the government in Negeri Sembilan when it controlled 31 state seats.
PH won 17 seats, followed by BN with 14 seats, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) won five seats.
Negeri Sembilan became the second state to dissolve the state assembly to pave the way for the state election after Johor did so last Monday.
