KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) has officially approved its seat allocation among its component parties and confirmed that all coalition candidates will contest under the Perikatan Nasional logo in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election.
In a media statement issued on Thursday, PN Chairman Datuk Seri Ir. Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the coalition’s Supreme Council reached the decision during a special meeting held on July 16.
According to the statement, the Supreme Council unanimously endorsed the seat distribution negotiations involving PN component parties, namely PAS, Parti Wawasan, Gerakan, and the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP), for the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) election.
The council also approved the use of the Perikatan Nasional logo by all PN candidates contesting in the state election, in line with an earlier agreement among the coalition’s member parties.
Ahmad Samsuri also addressed a statement issued by Bersatu President on July 15, clarifying that all preliminary discussions and engagements with relevant parties had been conducted with his knowledge and approval as PN Chairman.
He said the entire process had now been formally finalised and endorsed by the coalition’s Supreme Council during Thursday’s meeting.
The PN chairman said the coalition’s candidates, whose names are expected to be announced later today, will contest with the objective of safeguarding the welfare of the people, promoting Negeri Sembilan’s development agenda, and preserving harmony within the state’s multi-ethnic society, while contributing to national unity.
The announcement comes as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election, with candidate line-ups and campaign strategies expected to dominate the political landscape in the coming days.
