Amanah president Mohamad Sabu speaks during the Melaka election campaign

Melaka Election: Amanah Confident of Winning All Seven Seats, Says Mohamad Sabu

ALOR GAJAH, November 3 – Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is confident of winning all seven seats it is contesting in the 16th Melaka State Election.

Its president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, said the confidence comes from support among young voters and Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) decision to field younger candidates.

He said the party believes its candidates can gain public support in the upcoming state election.

Mohamad shared his views with reporters after attending a political campaign event at Jalan Telok Gong, Pengkalan Balak, on Monday night.

Amanah Fields Candidates in Seven Constituencies

Amanah is contesting seven state seats in the election.

The candidates are:

  • Kuala Linggi – Muhammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah
  • Bukit Katil – Adly Zahari
  • Durian Tunggal – Datuk Ashraf Mukhlis Minghat
  • Telok Mas – Capt (Rtd) Mohamad Jaafar
  • Merlimau – Rahayu Hamzah
  • Sungai Rambai – Aminuddin Abdul Jalil
  • Taboh Naning – Junainah Sahat

PH candidate for Kuala Linggi, Muhammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah, also attended the campaign event.

He is the youngest candidate in the Melaka state election.

Young Candidates Given Opportunities to Lead

Mohamad said PH’s decision to field eight young candidates was based on their qualifications and abilities.

He explained that the move would give younger leaders an opportunity to take on greater responsibilities.

He also said political criticism was normal for candidates of all ages.

Mohamad shared that he was only 27 when he first contested an election.

However, he stressed that introducing younger candidates did not mean experienced leaders were being sidelined.

Instead, he said the party wanted to combine the strengths of younger and older candidates, including both men and women.

Bukit Katil Seat Faces Four-Cornered Contest

Mohamad also commented on the contest in Bukit Katil.

He said no constituency should be considered a safe seat before polling day.

Adly Zahari, who is also Melaka PH chairman and the incumbent for Bukit Katil, will face three challengers.

They are Ridzuan Sarif of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Dr Aliza Che Amran of Parti Bersama Malaysia and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin.

Melaka Voters to Cast Ballots on November 14

The Election Commission has set November 14 as polling day for the 16th Melaka State Election.

Meanwhile, early voting will take place on November 10.

The election will determine the representatives for Melaka’s state constituencies as political parties continue their campaigns to gain voters’ support.
