SEREMBAN, JULY 15 -- Barisan Nasional (BN) has allocated seven State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats to MCA and four seats to MIC for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election. BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the seat distribution was determined based on each candidate's projected chances of securing victory in their respective constituencies. He said all prospective BN candidates attended a special meeting where they signed a pledge and took an oath of loyalty as part of the coalition's preparations for the state election. "This has long been a standard practice in every state election, by-election and general election to ensure all candidates remain committed to the coalition's principles and objectives," he told reporters after chairing a meeting with prospective BN candidates at Wisma UMNO Negeri Sembilan on Wednesday. KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced that the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has officially approved the change of name of Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) to Parti Wawasan Negara (WAWASAN NEGARA). In a media statement issued on Tuesday, PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the approval was granted by the ROS on July 6, 2026. Following the approval, Parti Wawasan Negara has officially become a component party of Perikatan Nasional under its new name, effective from the same date. Takiyuddin said the recognition is in accordance with Clause 6.5 of the Perikatan Nasional Constitution, which governs the membership of component parties within the coalition. "The Registrar of Societies has approved the application to change the name of Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) to Parti Wawasan Negara (WAWASAN NEGARA) on July 6, 2026. KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has acknowledged its disappointing performance in the Johor state election, pledging to learn from the outcome while shifting its full attention to the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election. In a statement issued by its Central Executive Committee (CEC) on Tuesday, DAP thanked Johor voters for participating in the democratic process, which recorded a voter turnout of 69.6 per cent. The party also expressed appreciation to all Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters, particularly the 291,273 Johoreans who cast their votes for DAP candidates. The party said every vote represented trust, hope and responsibility, adding that it would carry those lessons into the next electoral battle in Negeri Sembilan. DAP confirmed that Pakatan Harapan will contest all 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan state election, with DAP defending 11 constituencies. The party will field eight incumbent assemblymen alongside three new faces as part of its campaign to retain the state government. According to the statement, DAP's campaign in Negeri Sembilan will focus on promoting the state government's achievements, future development plans, practical solutions to issues affecting the people and candidates capable of serving the public effectively. The party said it wanted voters to make their decision based on performance, policies and the state's future rather than divisive politics.
