JOHOR JAYA, July 4 -- Pakatan Harapan candidate for N.42 Johor Jaya, Lee Wern Yiing, said she had previously worked together with former Johor Jaya assemblywoman, Liow Cai Tung, and their team to revive a vacant space in Kampung Baru Plentong that was once reduced to “just two remaining walls.” She said the area has now been successfully transformed into a multi-purpose community activity centre, serving as a gathering place for residents and a venue for various celebrations and community activities. Lee Wern Yiing stressed that a dynamic community requires safe, comfortable, and inclusive public spaces for all groups, including youth and the elderly. She added that the transformation effort was not only focused on beautification, but also on ensuring the space serves multiple practical functions. Future uses may include health screenings, cultural bazaars, and various other community-based programmes. “This is only the first step in the Community, One Generation agenda,” she said, adding that if given a mandate in the upcoming State Election, she is committed to expanding the concept of “Space Revitalisation and Community Regeneration” to more areas across the Johor Jaya constituency. PONTIAN, July 4 — Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari campaigned in Pulai Sebatang on Saturday, throwing his full support behind Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Haniff Hosman in the Johor state election. Speaking during a campaign programme at Kampung Jawa Ulu, Amirudin described Haniff as a longtime friend whom he has known since their school days, saying their longstanding friendship has given him first-hand knowledge of Haniff's character, dedication and commitment to public service. Amirudin said Haniff, who serves as the KEADILAN Pontian Division Chief, has spent years assisting local communities and addressing the concerns of residents. He added that despite finding success as an entrepreneur and graduating from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Haniff chose to return to his hometown to serve the people of Pontian because he believes the district deserves greater development and opportunities. KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 – The Youth Chief of the Progressive People's Party of Malaysia (PPP Malaysia), Sathiah Sudakaran, is of the view that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto which targets Johor as the "Shenzhen of Southeast Asia" needs to be accompanied by evidence of implementation capabilities, in addition to a record of achievements in the states governed by the coalition. According to him, the people have the right to question the extent to which the target can be realised if the states under PH administration have not yet shown achievements comparable to the development model being highlighted. He also raised the issue of the Selangor government's stance in not allowing the construction of a new piggery due to several considerations, describing the situation as raising questions about the consistency of the development and economic approach brought by PH. "Economic and development policies should be implemented consistently and guided by the interests of the people and the state, rather than changing according to the current political narrative," he said in a statement. Youth Leader of the People's Progressive Party of Malaysia (PPP Malaysia), Sathiah Sudakaran Commenting on current developments in Johor, Sathiah said the state had recorded positive economic performance under the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration led by Johor Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi. According to him, Johor has successfully attracted investments worth billions of ringgit, strengthened the development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), created more quality job opportunities and increased the confidence of local and international investors. He said the success was not just the result of slogans or manifestos, but rather stemmed from clear policies, stable administration and cooperation between the Johor State Government and the Federal Government. Meanwhile, Sathiah also commented on PH's promise to bring back 20,000 Malaysians working in Singapore. He opined that the effort needed more than just incentives, but rather needed to be supported by the provision of high-income job opportunities, a conducive investment environment, world-class infrastructure and confidence in Johor's economic prospects. He said PPP Malaysia is confident that the people of Johor will make an assessment based on a government's record of achievement, administrative stability and ability to continue the state's development agenda. "Johor is now on the right track under the Barisan Nasional administration. JOHOR BAHRU, July 3 -- Barisan Nasional (BN) respects Pakatan Harapan's (PH) manifesto for the 16th Johor State Election (PRN) to be held on July 11. BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that as a country that practices a democratic system, the political coalition always welcomes any offer from any party contesting. "I have studied the manifesto... we respect what they propose," he told reporters after the Leadership Engagement Ceremony with Parents of Tabika Kemas Bangsa Johor at the Larkin Court 1 Housing Flats here today. Also present were Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and candidate for the Larkin State Assembly seat Mohd Hairi Mad Shah. Earlier, PH launched a manifesto with 10 offers, including the Johor Health Scheme, deposit assistance for first-time homeowners, a RM500 million fund allocation to empower the development of the younger generation and the empowerment of the education sector. Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid in his speech said the BN manifesto was based on the record of excellence of the state government last term which successfully realised more than 90 percent of the promises made previously. KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has criticised Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for raising the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) issue during the Johor state election campaign, describing the move as inappropriate and unwise. Anwar said the JS-SEZ is a Federal Government initiative being implemented in collaboration with the Johor state government, stressing that negotiations and agreements on the project were conducted at the highest level between the Malaysian and Singaporean prime ministers. "The signing of the agreement is between the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Prime Minister of Singapore. It is not a matter for the Menteri Besar. "There is no need to turn it into a campaign issue. The project is progressing with substantial investment and support from the Federal Government. "Instead of appreciating the assistance given, he chose to use it during the campaign to criticise the government. That is inappropriate and not a wise approach," Anwar told reporters after performing Friday prayers at Masjid As-Sodiqin in Taman Kobena. Earlier, Onn Hafiz had urged the Federal Government to expedite the announcement of the JS-SEZ master plan, saying it is crucial to provide certainty for investors and set the direction for Johor's economic development.
