ARMONK, New York, July 16 – IBM has unveiled new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven capabilities for its IBM Power platform, designed to help enterprises automate system operations, modernise applications and improve business resilience in the era of agentic AI. The company announced IBM Power Autonomous Operations, an AI agent that can continuously monitor Power systems and autonomously resolve issues to help maintain smooth operations. The technology is aimed at reducing manual system management and enabling businesses to focus more on innovation. IBM also introduced the IBM Bob™ Premium Package for i, an AI-powered development assistant designed to accelerate application development and modernisation on IBM i platforms, allowing more engineers to work on enterprise applications. IBM said the new capabilities are part of its broader strategy to embed autonomous IT across its Power platform, from application development to runtime operations, while maintaining security, control and reliability. According to the IBM Institute for Business Value's 2026 Tech Leader Study, enterprises expect to deploy an average of 1,661 AI agents by 2027, representing a 38 per cent increase. The system supports AI workloads through Power11 on-chip Matrix Math Acceleration technology, offering improved performance and energy efficiency. IBM said the Power S1112 delivers up to twice the core performance compared with the Power S914 and up to three times better core performance than the Power S814, while providing up to 69 per cent greater energy efficiency. The company added that IBM Power Autonomous Operations can help resolve capacity-related issues up to 15 times faster than manual intervention by using AI agents capable of managing systems through conversational prompts. JAKARTA, July 15 — Tencent Cloud, the cloud computing arm of global technology company Tencent, has expanded its international suite of artificial intelligence (AI) agent solutions into Indonesia as businesses in the country accelerate digital transformation and AI adoption. The announcement was made during Tencent Cloud’s AI Executive Day summit in Jakarta, which gathered more than 150 enterprise leaders, technology executives and industry partners to discuss the practical use of AI agents in business operations, including workplace productivity, creative production, enterprise automation and access to advanced AI models. Tencent Cloud said the expansion aims to help Indonesian companies move beyond traditional chatbot applications and content generation by deploying AI agents capable of planning, executing and automating complex multi-step tasks. According to a recent industry study, 57 per cent of Indonesian enterprises identified AI as their top priority for the year ahead, while 66 per cent indicated plans to increase their focus on agentic AI technologies. At the summit, Tencent Cloud introduced several AI-powered solutions, including Tencent WorkBuddy, an agent-based workplace productivity platform designed to help employees complete tasks through simple instructions. The platform allows users to assign AI agents to perform activities such as market research, data analysis and visual reporting, while accessing specialised AI “Experts” in areas including finance, law and marketing. It also supports integration with different large language models through APIs and enables remote workflow management via platforms such as Discord, Slack and Telegram. Tencent said WorkBuddy has gained significant adoption in China, recording more than 8.85 million monthly active users within its first month after launch. The company also showcased Tencent Design Miora, an AI-powered creative studio designed for designers, content creators and marketing professionals. The platform uses persistent memory technology to maintain brand consistency and allows users to generate creative assets including graphics, videos, 3D designs and user interface materials from a single natural-language instruction. In addition, Tencent Cloud introduced TokenHub, its Model-as-a-Service platform that enables enterprises to access multiple large language models through a centralised API gateway. The solution helps businesses manage AI model usage, optimise costs and improve performance through flexible token allocation. Tencent Cloud Vice President and Vice President of APAC at Tencent Cloud International, Jimmy Chen, said Indonesian businesses were increasingly shifting from AI experimentation towards practical implementation. “Indonesian enterprises are increasingly looking to move from AI experimentation to real adoption. With agents like WorkBuddy and Miora, we help local organisations shift execution-heavy work to AI, allowing teams to focus on smarter decisions and innovation,” he said. Chen added that Tencent Cloud remained committed to supporting Indonesian companies in modernising operations, adopting AI technologies and expanding globally. Strengthening Digital Transformation Across Indonesia Beyond AI solutions, Tencent Cloud highlighted its ongoing partnerships with Indonesian companies across telecommunications, digital platforms and financial services sectors. PUTRAJAYA, July 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a comprehensive approach to national security, stressing that Malaysia must strengthen its technological capabilities, digital resilience and human capital to address increasingly complex threats in the modern era. Speaking after officiating the National Security Month Programme 2026 and the National Cyber Security Summit (NCSS) 2026, Anwar said conventional security approaches were no longer sufficient to counter emerging challenges driven by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. He said Malaysia must enhance its preparedness by investing in advanced technology and security systems while also developing a new generation of digitally literate, highly skilled and security-conscious citizens capable of navigating future challenges. According to the Prime Minister, building national resilience requires more than technological upgrades, as human capital development remains a critical component of the country's long-term security strategy. Anwar also stressed that national security should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of enforcement and security agencies. Instead, he said it is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of every citizen, family and community. TOKYO, JULY 2 -- Sony will stop producing new games for its PlayStation console in physical disc form from 2028, in line with the company's efforts to accelerate the transition to digital distribution, the German News Agency (dpa) reported. Sony said that starting in 2028, all new PlayStation game titles will only be offered in digital format. The company said consumer demand for digital purchases is increasing, with approximately 80 percent of PlayStation 5 games now purchased digitally. However, some players still prefer physical discs because they can be resold or used as collectibles. Sony said games published before 2028 as well as existing titles will continue to be offered in their current format. The move reflects an industry trend that is increasingly shifting from physical media to digital distribution. For example, the highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto" game will also only be released in digital format. In fact, the editions sold on the market only contain download codes instead of game discs. Sony also announced that the download stores for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita will be closed by the middle of next year. The decision also shows that digital games can become unavailable when publishers or platform operators terminate online services. Meanwhile, rival Nintendo is taking a hybrid approach to some titles for its Switch 2 console. For certain games, the cartridges sold do not contain the game itself, but instead only contain a digital license key that allows users to download the game.
