TOKYO, JULY 2 -- Sony will stop producing new games for its PlayStation console in physical disc form from 2028, in line with the company's efforts to accelerate the transition to digital distribution, the German News Agency (dpa) reported. Sony said that starting in 2028, all new PlayStation game titles will only be offered in digital format. The company said consumer demand for digital purchases is increasing, with approximately 80 percent of PlayStation 5 games now purchased digitally. However, some players still prefer physical discs because they can be resold or used as collectibles. Sony said games published before 2028 as well as existing titles will continue to be offered in their current format. The move reflects an industry trend that is increasingly shifting from physical media to digital distribution. For example, the highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto" game will also only be released in digital format. In fact, the editions sold on the market only contain download codes instead of game discs. Sony also announced that the download stores for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita will be closed by the middle of next year. The decision also shows that digital games can become unavailable when publishers or platform operators terminate online services. Meanwhile, rival Nintendo is taking a hybrid approach to some titles for its Switch 2 console. For certain games, the cartridges sold do not contain the game itself, but instead only contain a digital license key that allows users to download the game. Unlike fully digital purchases, games acquired through the system can still be transferred to other users. -- BERNAMA-dpa

PETALING JAYA – JULY 1 -- With children’s online safety now firmly in the national spotlight, Tune Talk is moving first to redefine the role of telcos in protecting young digital users and families, starting at the mobile network itself. The telecommunications operator launched Epik+ Family Safe, the country’s first family mobile plan with integrated one-tap parental control enforced entirely at the network level. As the national conversation shifts toward restricting social media accounts to children younger than 16, parents are navigating a difficult balance: giving their children access to the digital world, while bearing the burden of managing safety app-by-app, device-by-device and through complicated settings. As part of Tune Talk’s continued evolution as a telco delivering value beyond standard connectivity, Epik+ Family Safe shifts parental control away from fragmented app settings and embeds it directly into the mobile network's data pipe. With just one tap, parents can choose from three protection levels (low, medium, or high) and block content across up to 56 categories, adjusting the digital boundaries as their child grows. Built on Tune Talk's fully cloud-native mobile network, and enabled in collaboration with Nokia, protection is enforced at the network layer rather than managed at the child’s device. This allows Malaysian families to benefit from a lower-friction approach, helping parents manage digital access without the added complexity of third-party tracking tools. “Mobile connectivity has become a child’s first passport to the internet, and that means the role of a telco must evolve beyond data, speed, and price to support how Malaysians live, learn, and interact in a digital environment. We want to lead from the front in showing what that can look like. Epik+ Family Safe is our proof, building practical support directly into the connection itself so families can navigate the digital world with greater confidence. Connectivity is where a child's digital life begins, and we believe it is also where safety should begin,” said Gurtaj Singh Padda, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tune Talk. Tune Talk’s newly released Family Digital Confidence Survey reinforces this urgent local need. The research found that nearly 1 in 2 Malaysian parents (48.1%) ranked access to age-inappropriate content as their top online safety concern. Furthermore, more than 3 in 5 parents still feel unsure or lacking confidence in managing their child's digital habits, signaling the need for practical support that fits into everyday family life. “Our findings show that Malaysian parents are already thinking carefully about how their children engage with the digital world. Parents are not looking to disconnect their children’s access; they want practical support to help them navigate digital life more safely. Epik+ Family Safe is Tune Talk’s contribution to that wider ecosystem, offering parents a layer of support directly within the connectivity experience," Padda added. “Nokia is pleased to collaborate with Tune Talk on Epik+ Family Safe, a solution that showcases how our cloud-native Core network and integrated network intelligence enable powerful, network-level protection. By bringing parental control closer to the network, this initiative helps simplify digital safety and supports a more secure connectivity experience for Malaysian households,” said Ming Kin Ngiam, Head of Southeast Asia, Nokia. Designed for the everyday Malaysian family, Epik+ Family Safe brings together the connectivity essentials families need within a single, highly accessible prepaid plan at RM80 per month: One parent line and one child line 700GB of high-speed data with no Fair Usage Policy (FUP) restrictions Integrated, network-level one-tap parental control with three protection levels Personal Accident insurance coverage of up to RM500,000* To bring the conversation closer to the everyday realities of Malaysian homes, the event also featured a panel discussion on “Parenting in the Digital Age.” Moderated by Daphne Iking, the session brought together Dr. Shazril Shaharuddin, better known as Dr. Say, a medical doctor and daddy influencer; parenting expert Fhais Salim; and Jill Yeap, General Manager of Marketing from Tune Talk. The discussion reflected on the realities of setting boundaries, navigating online risks, and how families can build safer, as online safety becomes an increasingly important conversation for parents nationwide.

SINGAPORE, July 1 -- Toku, Asia Pacific's leading AI-powered 360° customer experience platform, today made Makimoto Kawa ("Kawa") available to developers, the first open-source conversational AI infrastructure built and hosted in Singapore, designed for teams operating under APAC's regulatory and data residency requirements. Kawa's post-conversation transcription API, together with an interactive playground, is live now at makimoto.ai.  The release is Toku's first publicly available sovereign conversational AI infrastructure, and a milestone in the Group's wider push to deepen these capabilities. By pairing open-source development with enterprise-grade deployment, Makimoto complements Toku's existing customer experience platform and supports long-term innovation opportunities across the Group's AI roadmap. At launch, Kawa is available as a post-conversation transcription API, built for recorded calls, voicemail, and large-scale analysis of archived customer interactions. Developers submit an audio recording to the API and then retrieve the completed transcript, with speaker separation and segment-level timestamps. Each account includes a free monthly allowance of 1,000 minutes and an open-source interactive playground for testing before integration. A real-time transcription API, designed for live voice agents, captioning, and in-conversation analytics, will follow as a subsequent release. The Kawa API runs on a composable orchestration layer, allowing developers to swap individual components in the pipeline, such as audio pre-processing or the speech-to-text model, without redesigning the surrounding system. Hosted in Singapore, Kawa keeps customer audio and transcripts in-country, supporting organisations operating under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and sector-specific frameworks, including guidelines issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). It is designed to meet growing demand among enterprises and regulated industries for AI infrastructure that gives them greater control over how data is processed, where workloads run, and how regulatory obligations are met. The architecture established for Singapore provides a foundation for future deployments in markets with similar data-residency and compliance requirements. "We committed in April to putting Kawa in developers' hands by 1 July, and today we have. Models are becoming a commodity, and the cycles are getting shorter, so today's best choice is next year's legacy. The advantage that endures is a composable orchestration layer that lets you replace and upgrade components without rebuilding the system each time, and that work, in the open, is what Makimoto is for," said Thomas Laboulle, Founder and CEO at Toku. Developer interest has continued to build since Makimoto was first announced in April. The managed API available from launch provides developers and enterprises with immediate access to a production-ready transcription pipeline, while Kawa's open orchestration layer enables inspection, configuration, and future extensibility. Through subsequent releases in 2026, Toku intends to progressively open additional layers of the pipeline, moving towards greater community participation and modifiability. The launch also marks early progress on Makimoto's Singapore-based AI ecosystem Toku announced in April. The ten graduate roles, spanning engineering, developer relations and community, drew more than 400 applicants from universities and polytechnics across the region, with the inaugural cohort now being finalised for hire. The response reflects strong regional appetite to build production-grade open-source infrastructure rooted in Asia-Pacific. Makimoto is operated through Makimoto Technology Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Toku Group, maintaining a clear distinction between community and enterprise editions of its software. Through the remainder of 2026, Toku plans to add the real-time transcription API and open-source more of its technology stack. Developers can start building with Kawa today at makimoto.ai. SYDNEY, June 25  --  Manhattan Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: MANH), the global leader in native AI-empowered supply chain commerce solutions, today announced a major addition to ActivePlatform™: Manhattan Marketplace, a shared ecosystem where customers and partners discover and deploy intelligent agents, extensions, and accelerators for Manhattan's Active solutions. All agents and extensions published to the Marketplace run natively on ActivePlatform, inheriting the same deterministic spine and operational guardrails as our core software. By leveraging Agent Foundry™, our partners can build intelligent solutions that connect directly into our ecosystem, ensuring seamless interoperability and agentic innovation without the need for complex, resource-heavy integration projects. This creates a unified, open space where customers can discover partner-built extensions that target specific industries, workflows, and regions. "Innovation is no longer a solo effort; it is about bringing the collective brilliance of our entire community into one shared, secure environment," said Sanjeev Siotia, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Manhattan Associates. "Manhattan Marketplace is the engine for that collaboration - enabling our partners and customers to build on the same foundation and benefit from each other's best ideas. It is designed to help our ecosystem accelerate speed-to-value while tapping into a broader, shared community of innovation." "We're excited about the flexibility and innovation potential that Manhattan's AI Agents, Agent Foundry, and Marketplace ecosystem bring to the market. As customers continue looking for faster ways to enhance and extend their operational environments, we see significant opportunity to leverage the Marketplace to deliver practical, customer-specific solutions that accelerate execution and create measurable business value," said Sandeep Patel, Co-Founder, Veridian. Manhattan's platform has always been rooted in absolute openness, and the Marketplace extends this principle into the AI era. This unified ecosystem ensures that Manhattan, its partners, and its customers all build agents on common, deterministic ground. Partners are already developing for the Marketplace, and customers will gain access to it in upcoming quarters, with additional content and capabilities added over time.
