ESG Commitment Key to Building a Sustainable and Future-Ready Malaysian Workforce

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 – Human Resources Minister R.Ramanan has stressed that Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles must be embraced as a long-term national commitment rather than a passing trend to ensure sustainable economic growth and a future-ready workforce.

Speaking after officiating the ESG Positive Impact Awards 2025 Gala Night, organised by Star Media Group, Ramanan said ESG plays a crucial role in strengthening human capital development, creating quality employment opportunities, expanding social protection and promoting transparent and accountable governance.

The event brought together industry leaders committed to advancing ESG practices as the foundation of responsible and sustainable economic development.

Ramanan said the MADANI Government, through the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), remains committed to equipping Malaysians with future-ready skills, strengthening the national employment ecosystem and ensuring workers receive adequate protection and equal opportunities.

“These efforts are essential to building a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable economy,” he said.

He also congratulated all award recipients and finalists, expressing hope that their achievements would inspire more organisations to adopt ESG practices that deliver meaningful benefits to employees, businesses and the nation.

Among those present at the gala dinner were Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Maria Angela A. Ponce, Star Media Group Chief Executive Officer Chan Seng Fatt, Telekom Malaysia Vice President Asril Idris, and IJM Land Assistant Managing Director Tan Pei Wen.
