Fahmi Presents Malaysia Day Invitation To Sarawak Governor

KUCHING, September 15 2026, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil today paid a courtesy call on Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar to present an official invitation to the Malaysia Day celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tomorrow night.

Fahmi said the visit also provided an opportunity to brief Wan Junaidi on final preparations for the celebration, which is scheduled to run from 8.15 pm to about 10.30 pm.

“Alhamdulillah, the courtesy call went very well. Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and I presented the invitation to Tun for tomorrow’s celebration.

“All preparations are progressing well. There are a few technical aspects that will be fine-tuned and, insya-Allah, the event will run smoothly,” he told reporters after the courtesy call at Astana Negeri Sarawak here.

Also present were Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister and Minister-in-Charge of the Malaysia Day 2026 celebration Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah.

Fahmi said that during the hour-long meeting, Wan Junaidi also shared some of his extensive experience, particularly from his time serving in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The minister said he also updated Wan Junaidi on the publication of a special book about the Governor by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), as well as several related programmes, including a thanksgiving ceremony at the State Mosque and a Malaysia Day exhibition organised by the Information Department.

About 5,000 people are expected to attend the Malaysia Day celebration at BCCK tomorrow night.

Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, are expected to attend, along with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
