KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 — Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the MADANI Government will continue strengthening Malaysia’s social protection system to ensure workers remain protected amid changing employment patterns and an ageing workforce.
Speaking in the Dewan Negara while responding to a question from Senator Datuk Seri Vell Paari Samy Vellu, Ramanan said the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) will continue reviewing policies and protection mechanisms under the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) to ensure they remain relevant in an increasingly dynamic labour market.
He said the government is also enhancing occupational health guidelines to address workplace stress and health challenges arising from evolving labour market demands.
According to Ramanan, the improvements are aimed at ensuring the nation’s social safety net remains responsive while strengthening initiatives related to mental well-being, psychosocial risk management and the creation of safer, healthier and more conducive workplaces.
He added that the strategic collaboration between PERKESO and the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) will continue to be expanded to improve the Indian community’s access to social protection, employment opportunities, skills training and career matching through the MYFutureJobs platform.
“Our goal is clear — to ensure that no worker and no segment of society is left behind from the country’s social security network,” Ramanan said.
