KUALA LUMPUR, September 18 2026, The Federal Territories Pardons Board held its 64th meeting at Istana Negara today, with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar in attendance.
The meeting is understood to have been held in connection with former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s pardon application, which was deferred on Sept 11.
Najib, 73, has been serving his prison sentence at Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022.
The meeting drew the attention of local and international media, with journalists gathering near the main entrance of Istana Negara from early morning.
The Federal Territories Pardons Board is chaired by the King and comprises the Attorney-General, the minister responsible for the Federal Territories, and three other members appointed by His Majesty.
Under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, the authority to grant pardons and make final decisions on matters involving offences committed in the Federal Territories rests with the King.
