JOHOR JAYA, July 4 — Pakatan Harapan candidate for N.42 Johor Jaya, Lee Wern Yiing, said she had previously worked together with former Johor Jaya assemblywoman, Liow Cai Tung, and their team to revive a vacant space in Kampung Baru Plentong that was once reduced to “just two remaining walls.”
She said the area has now been successfully transformed into a multi-purpose community activity centre, serving as a gathering place for residents and a venue for various celebrations and community activities.
Lee Wern Yiing stressed that a dynamic community requires safe, comfortable, and inclusive public spaces for all groups, including youth and the elderly.
She added that the transformation effort was not only focused on beautification, but also on ensuring the space serves multiple practical functions. Future uses may include health screenings, cultural bazaars, and various other community-based programmes.
“This is only the first step in the Community, One Generation agenda,” she said, adding that if given a mandate in the upcoming State Election, she is committed to expanding the concept of “Space Revitalisation and Community Regeneration” to more areas across the Johor Jaya constituency.
She also urged voters in Plentong to fulfil their civic duty by turning out to vote on Saturday, 11 July, stressing that public participation is essential to sustain community transformation efforts and to preserve cleaner, safer, and more vibrant neighbourhood environments.
