PUTRAJAYA, July 8 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to advancing Malaysia’s climate change agenda while ensuring sustainable national development for future generations.
In a statement following the National Climate Change Action Council (MTPIN) Bill No. 1/2026 Meeting, which he chaired today, Anwar said the meeting reviewed the progress of various initiatives aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s commitment to addressing climate change.
He said the initiatives are being implemented in line with the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change> (UNFCCC).
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of broader engagement with state governments to ensure that climate-related policies and strategies are formulated in an inclusive manner.
According to Anwar, stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and state administrations is essential to uphold the spirit of the Federal Constitution while respecting the jurisdiction and responsibilities of the states.
He said such cooperation would help ensure the effective implementation of climate initiatives across the country.
Anwar added that the MADANI Government remains committed to balancing economic development with environmental conservation, emphasising that sustainable growth is vital to safeguarding the well-being of future generations.
