IPOH, September 18 2026, A 27-year-old lorry driver was injured after being trapped in his vehicle following a three-lorry collision at Km257.2 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound, near the Menora Tunnel, this morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 8.58 am and deployed seven personnel and a fire engine from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station.
The accident involved a Hino lorry carrying mixed cargo, an Isuzu lorry transporting beverages and a Volvo trailer carrying frozen goods.
The Hino driver was trapped in the driver’s seat and sustained minor injuries to his legs. He was later handed over to Ministry of Health personnel for further treatment.
The drivers of the Isuzu and Volvo lorries, aged 59 and 33 respectively, escaped without assistance and were uninjured.
The crash blocked all northbound lanes, causing a seven-kilometre traffic jam. The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said patrol teams, Incident Support Services, JBPM and an Emergency Medical Patrol Vehicle were deployed to the scene.
A mandatory exit at Ipoh South was also activated to help manage traffic flow.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
