JAKARTA, October 14, 2026, Tourism Malaysia is stepping up promotional efforts across Indonesia to attract more visitors and strengthen partnerships between Malaysian and Indonesian tourism industry players under the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign.
The initiative is being carried out through the Malaysia Travel Connect business-to-business (B2B) roadshow, which connects Malaysian tourism operators with Indonesian travel agents to promote travel packages and explore new business opportunities.
The roadshow covers Balikpapan, Manado and Denpasar, with Manado hosting the promotional programme for the first time.
Tourism Malaysia Jakarta director Hairi Mohd Yakzan said the agency sees strong potential in Manado, noting that direct flights between the city and Malaysia operated before the COVID-19 pandemic but have since been discontinued.
He highlighted Malaysia’s diverse tourism offerings, including family holidays, food experiences, medical tourism, cultural heritage and nature-based attractions.
Organised in collaboration with the Mitra Travel consortium, the roadshow aims to expand industry networks and strengthen cooperation between tourism businesses in both countries.
Tourism Malaysia recorded 4.3 million visitors from Indonesia in 2025, supported by more than 700 weekly direct flights between the two countries.
For 2026, Malaysia is targeting 47 million international visitor arrivals and RM329 billion in tourism receipts, with more than 320 events and festivals planned as part of its tourism promotion efforts.
