ALOR GAJAH, JULY 11 — Two areas in Alor Gajah here were flooded following heavy rain that continued for more than six hours since 6am this morning.
Melaka APM director Lt Col (PA) Kamarulsyah Muslim said that as of 12.30 pm today, the areas affected by the flood were Taman Ria Masjid Tanah and Jalan Bandar Baru Masjid Tanah, but the number of residents or houses affected had not yet been obtained.
“The area in question was flooded following continuous heavy rain causing the water level in rivers or ditches to overflow.
“However, so far no temporary evacuation centres have been opened and continuous monitoring in the affected areas is being carried out by APM members and related agencies,” he said in a statement here today.
Continuous heavy rain was also reported in Central Melaka and Jasin, but so far no areas have been reported flooded.
