Sanusi Defends Remarks, Says They Do Not Deny Non-Malays’ Citizenship

KUALA LUMPUR 28 JULAI 2026– Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor has defended his remarks that Malays only have Tanah Melayu (the Malay Land), insisting they were not intended to incite racial sentiment or deny the citizenship of non-Malays.

He said the remarks were based on historical records documented in the British Parliament’s Hansard since 1946 and were made in the context of campaigning for the Negeri Sembilan state election.

Sanusi also claimed his speech had been taken out of context and stressed that it should not be labelled as racist.
