KUALA LUMPUR, September 10 2026, The ability to manage communications strategically and make the right decisions when faced with a media crisis is important to ensure that the credibility and public confidence in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) continues to be maintained.
MACC Strategic Communications Division (BKS) director, Hisyam Mohd Yusoff said that every piece of information related to the commission that is conveyed to the public needs to be handled carefully because errors in delivery can affect public perception.
“In media crisis management, every piece of information conveyed can have various implications if not handled effectively.
“Therefore, we need to ensure that every communication action is carried out carefully, based on facts, narratives and taking into account its impact on public confidence and perception of the MACC,” he said in a statement here, today.
Hisyam said this was among the matters emphasised in the Cakna Ilmu Series 11/2026: Media Crisis Communication and Management Strategy programme held at MACC headquarters, Putrajaya, yesterday.
The programme was attended by 32 MACC officers from the MACC headquarters and state offices.
Hisyam said that through the programme, he also shared his experience in handling media crises as well as his approach in assessing an issue before determining the appropriate communication action.
He said understanding the role of the BKS was important in ensuring that information relating to an issue or case could be channelled accurately and sufficiently before communication decisions were made.
The information, he said, enabled the BKS to assess an issue comprehensively and formulate an accurate narrative by taking into account the impact of its delivery to community.
According to him, participants were also exposed to scenario-based training to enable them to analyse an issue, evaluate course of action and apply the communication methods they have learnt.
The session also provided space for participants to ask questions and share experiences and real situations they encountered in carrying out their respective duties.
