KUALA LUMPUR, September 10 2026, UMNO Youth representatives who underperform, put personal interests above the party or are difficult to reach will not be renominated in the next general election, said its chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
He said being an elected representative was not a personal entitlement but a trust entrusted by the people and the party, which must be upheld with commitment.
“If there are any elected representatives from Youth whose self-interest exceeds that of the party, if any of our representatives are lazy, or if they are hard to reach by phone call or WhatsApp message, please inform us.
“We will ensure they are not nominated again in the future,” he said when delivering the UMNO Youth chief’s policy speech at the UMNO Youth General Assembly (PAU) 2026 here today.
Dr Akmal also reminded the 11 current elected representatives from the wing to remember the sacrifices of party machinery that worked tirelessly to help them win, and not act selfishly after taking office.
“You became an elected representative not because you are great, but because you have friends standing in front of you who worked tirelessly to help you get elected. Therefore, never feel that once you become an elected representative you are superior to others. Never be arrogant towards your comrades,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Akmal announced that the wing had resolved to officially adopt the child of the late former Maran UMNO Youth division chief, Mohd Radzi Rahimi.
As an initial measure, RM36,000 will be channelled into a National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) account under the name of the five-year-old child, Muhammad Riz Haziq.
He stressed that the contribution was not an act of charity or publicity, but a commitment by the movement’s family to safeguard the welfare and future of their departed comrade’s child.
Last month, Mohd Radzi, 40, his wife Nuriani Mohammad Jafri, 36, son Muhammad Rizz Hazim, five, and brother-in-law Mohammad Nizam Mohammad Jafri, 35, were killed after the four-wheel-drive vehicle they were travelling in was crushed by a fallen tree.
The 2026 UMNO General Assembly is being held from Sept 9 to 12 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) here.
The general assemblies of all three party-wings are taking place today, involving 1,163 Wanita delegates, 1,171 Youth delegates and 1,145 Puteri delegates.
