KUALA LUMPUR, September 22, 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said neither he nor Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim was summoned for an audience with Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir yesterday.
Zahid said both only learnt about the matter through media reports. He made the remarks after officiating the University Research and Innovation Investment Summit 2026 (URIIS 2026) in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said the ongoing dispute in Negeri Sembilan should be resolved through proper legal and constitutional processes while respecting the state’s institutions.
The statement follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s nearly hour-long audience with Tuanku Muhriz at Istana Negeri Sembilan yesterday.
The meeting came after Tuanku Muhriz revoked the appointments of the state executive councillors with immediate effect, citing alleged breaches of their oaths of office.
Ismail has disputed the validity of the move, arguing that the matter must be addressed according to the state Constitution and proper legal procedures.
