TOKYO, September 22, 2026 – Typhoon Dujuan has left at least four people dead and 22 injured in Japan after bringing torrential rain and strong winds to areas near Tokyo.
The Fire and Disaster Management Agency said three deaths were recorded in Chiba and one in Kanagawa. Search operations are continuing for six people reported missing following landslides.
More than 45,000 households in Chiba remained without electricity, while over 460 homes were damaged.
The storm also brought record rainfall, with Oshima recording 832 millimetres over 48 hours, while Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward recorded 282.5 millimetres in 24 hours.
Dujuan has since moved away from Japan and into the Pacific, with most heavy rain and landslide warnings lifted or downgraded.
