Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar discussing the use of the Perikatan Nasional logo in the Melaka state election

Melaka Polls: Bersatu Must Explain Use of PN Logo, Says Ahmad Samsuri

KUALA TERENGGANU, October 28, 2026 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar says Bersatu must explain how it plans to use the coalition’s logo in the Melaka state election.

Ahmad Samsuri, who is also Terengganu Menteri Besar, said the Election Commission (EC) had named him as the authorised signatory for the PN logo.

Therefore, he said questions about Bersatu’s plans should be directed to the party itself. He also stressed that PN would continue to use its own logo in future elections.

Dispute Between Bersatu and PN

Bersatu and PN have faced disagreements over the party’s position within the coalition.

The dispute includes a complaint to the Registrar of Societies (RoS). The complaint concerns Bersatu’s alleged exclusion from a coalition meeting.

Meanwhile, PN and its component parties are preparing for the Melaka state election.

PN Continues Seat Allocation Talks

Ahmad Samsuri said all component parties should respect the basic principles agreed upon during earlier negotiations.

He explained that seat allocation talks in Melaka were part of efforts to put those principles into practice.

The discussions are also important as the parties prepare for the next general election.

PN Prepares for the Melaka Campaign

PN and its component parties had submitted their proposed candidate names, Ahmad Samsuri said.

The official candidate announcement was scheduled for the following night in Melaka, according to the report.

Meanwhile, PN representatives had held meetings to coordinate their joint campaign.

Ahmad Samsuri also said the coalition could improve its cooperation by learning from the Negeri Sembilan state election held in August.
