AirBorneo Launches Online Check-in For ATR-operated Routes

KUCHING, March 3 (Bernama) – AirBorneo, Sarawak’s state-owned full-service airline, has launched online check-in for all routes operated by its ATR turboprop fleet, offering passengers across East Malaysia greater convenience.

The new service allows travellers to check in digitally, select preferred seats, and obtain an electronic boarding pass before arriving at the airport, helping reduce waiting times and improve travel efficiency. Online check-in is available for individual travellers, families, and groups on routes served by AirBorneo’s ATR 72-500 aircraft.

“Passengers travelling with checked baggage may proceed directly to the baggage drop counter upon arrival, streamlining pre-departure procedures,” the airline said.

AirBorneo CEO Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin said that online check-in is part of the airline’s digital transformation.

“While we are modernising our services, we understand that some rural and remote communities may have limited internet access. This service provides added convenience for those who can access it, while airport counter services remain fully operational,” he added.

Passengers can access online check-in via the airline’s official website using their booking reference and surname. The service opens 48 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes prior to take-off.

For flights operated by the DHC-6-400 Twin Otter aircraft, check-in will continue to be conducted at airport counters to ensure support at remote airstrips.
