PH Pledges Responsible Campaign for Melaka Election, Focuses on Government Achievements

MELAKA, Oct 26 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) will adopt a responsible and moderate approach in its campaign for the upcoming Melaka state election, focusing on the Unity Government’s achievements and policies rather than attacking political opponents.

Home Minister and PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the coalition would explain the government’s initiatives and welfare programmes clearly to help voters make informed decisions.

He stressed that PH would not rely on insults, personal attacks or divisive rhetoric to gain public support.

“Our politics is different. We promote peace, love and unity,” he said when officiating the opening of the Paya Rumput State Legislative Assembly (DUN) operations room in Krubong on Oct 26.

Also present were Melaka PKR acting state chairman Adam Adli Abd Halim and PH candidate for Paya Rumput, Datuk Azman Abidin.

Government Achievements to Take Centre Stage

Saifuddin said the coalition would highlight the government’s track record and explain how its policies and assistance programmes benefit Malaysians.

Among the achievements he cited was Malaysia’s ranking as the world’s 12th safest country to visit, which he said reflected the government’s efforts to maintain national security.

He also highlighted the RM200 schooling assistance provided to 5.2 million students nationwide as an example of support for families facing education-related expenses.

According to Saifuddin, a family with three school-going children could receive RM600, helping to cover the cost of uniforms, shoes, school bags and other essential supplies.

PH Calls for Peaceful and United Politics

Saifuddin urged campaign teams to communicate the government’s initiatives effectively so voters could understand their impact on everyday life.

He reiterated that PH would prioritise explaining its policies and achievements instead of criticising rival parties.

He said a campaign built on peace, compassion and unity would give politics greater value while allowing voters to assess the coalition’s record and proposals ahead of polling day.

The Melaka state election is scheduled for Nov 14, with nomination day set for Oct 31 and early voting on Nov 10.
