IPOH, September 5 2026– Eleven individuals have been arrested to assist investigations into a case involving a man who sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a group of men at Taman Pengkalan Jaya here last Tuesday.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the 26-year-old victim was approached by a group of five men travelling in two cars at about 10.30 am, before all the suspects chased and attacked him.
He said the victim, who attempted to escape by jumping into the Kinta River, was slashed with a machete by one of the suspects, sustaining injuries to his face, hands, legs and back.
Mohd Alwi said the victim was subsequently assisted by members of the public and taken to hospital for treatment.
“Investigations found that the incident was believed to have stemmed from revenge and dissatisfaction by an organised crime group against the victim. Police view the incident seriously and have arrested 11 local men to assist investigations.
“All those arrested are aged between 22 and 41 and have various previous criminal records involving drug offences and violent crimes,” he said in a statement last night.
Mohd Alwi said all the suspects had been remanded to assist investigations into the attack and their alleged involvement in an organised crime group.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons.
