KUALA LUMPUR, November 3 – Malaysia will strengthen its national preparedness to deal with growing geopolitical uncertainty and global security threats.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government is also focused on protecting the country’s essential supplies. These include food, water and energy.
He said recent international conflicts show that security threats now go beyond conventional warfare.
They also include cyberattacks, the spread of false information, sabotage of critical infrastructure and disruptions to supply chains.
National Security Coordination to Be Strengthened
Anwar said the government is taking these developments seriously.
The National Security Council (MKN) held a special meeting on November 2 to review the country’s preparedness.
The meeting also examined whether existing national mechanisms could respond effectively to crises and hybrid threats.
Following the discussion, the government agreed that existing security and crisis-management systems must be strengthened.
Anwar highlighted three important areas: better coordination between agencies, improved information sharing and clearer responsibilities.
He said these measures would help authorities respond in a more organised manner.
They would also reduce overlapping duties and prevent delays in decision-making.
Anwar made the remarks while presenting a statement in the Dewan Rakyat on Malaysia’s security preparedness amid geopolitical conflicts and regional and international tensions.
