JOHOR BAHRU, June 8, 2026 – Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman and Johor Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, has firmly stated that DAP has never been part of the BN-led Johor state government and will not be included in the administration as long as the people of Johor continue to give BN the mandate to govern the state. According to Onn Hafiz, the stance is not rooted in arrogance or racial considerations, but rather in principles, the mandate entrusted by the people, and BN Johor’s responsibility to safeguard the interests of Bangsa Johor. “This is not about arrogance. Nor is it about race. It is about principles, mandate, and responsibility to Bangsa Johor,” he said in a statement. As the chairman of BN Johor, Onn Hafiz said he is committed to serving all communities in the state and has a duty to respect the aspirations of grassroots members at every level who want the coalition to contest the 2026 Johor State Election independently. He also stressed that the political situation at the federal level should not be equated with the circumstances in Johor. According to him, the cooperation between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the federal level was formed following the 15th General Election (GE15) upon the decree of the then Yang di-Pertuan Agong, after no political coalition secured a clear majority to form the federal government. “The federal government and the Johor state government are two different entities. At the federal level, BN cooperated with PH after GE15 following the decree of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong when no coalition had sufficient numbers to form a government,” he explained. Onn Hafiz emphasized that the situation in Johor is fundamentally different, as BN was given a clear mandate by voters to govern the state. He said the BN-led Johor administration has demonstrated stability and delivered results through various development and people-centric initiatives. “In Johor, BN was given a clear mandate by the people. We have established a stable state government. We have proven our performance, and we have a responsibility to continue this work without being disrupted by political maneuvering that could undermine the state's stability,” he said. The Johor Menteri Besar further stressed that Johor has its own political approach aimed at preserving stability and ensuring the continuity of development efforts for the benefit of its people. “In Johor, we have our own way. This is UMNO Johor. This is BN Johor. This is Bangsa Johor,” he added. The statement is seen as reinforcing BN Johor’s position ahead of the 2026 Johor State Election while providing a clear indication of the coalition’s political direction as it seeks to maintain its administration and mandate in the state. -- MINUTESMY -- SOURCE: FB ONN HAFIZ GHAZI
