MARANG, May 22 -- PAS will not bow to the will of any party, including Bersatu, in determining its political direction. Its president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would thoroughly examine every negative action taken by Bersatu. He also said that PAS does not rule out the possibility of moving forward without Bersatu ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16) should both parties fail to reach a consensus in their political cooperation. The party is currently reassessing its ties with its ally in Perikatan Nasional (PN) comprehensively to ensure it does not affect the party’s performance. “We are reviewing all aspects (of the cooperation) because the election is approaching. Elections come with gains and losses. If it affects election matters, we will act accordingly,” he said at a press conference after a Dhuha lecture here today. Abdul Hadi also indicated that the ties between the two parties are currently being tested, saying that PAS remains patient, but stressing that such patience has its limits. -- BERNAMA

According to the statement, Forms C and D can also be downloaded from the State Election Offices portal and submitted to the relevant State Election Director together with the required objection fee during office hours throughout the review period. SPR advised the public to contact the commission directly or visit its official portal for any enquiries related to the DPT BLN4/2026 review process. He, who is also the Chairman of the National Home Unification Committee, said that as a party that is a "home" for the Malays, UMNO is always open to accepting anyone who wants to join the party. JOHOR BAHRU, May 12 — Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reaffirmed that UMNO must continue to serve as the “House of the Nation” in safeguarding the dignity of the Malays, Islam, and the sovereignty of the Malay Rulers as the party commemorates its historic 80th anniversary. In a symbolic gathering held at the historic staircase of the Johor Palace — the very site where UMNO was founded on May 11, 1946 — Zahid said the moment was not merely to relive history, but to strengthen the spirit of struggle that shaped the nation’s independence. “Back on the stairs of history, we remember the sacrifices and determination of past leaders who united to defend religion, race, homeland, and the sovereignty of the Malay Kings,” he said. According to Zahid, the same spirit that gave birth to UMNO eight decades ago must continue to guide the party through modern political challenges and national responsibilities. He said the return of UMNO leaders to the historic location symbolised a renewal of commitment to carry the trust of the people faithfully, courageously, and responsibly. Zahid also expressed his deepest appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim for consenting to the historic photography session, describing it as a meaningful moment for the entire UMNO family. He further extended gratitude to Tunku Ismail Idris, the Regent of Johor, for his support and presence during the commemorative event. “History reminds us that the strength of a nation is born from unity among the people, loyalty to the institution of the Malay Rulers, and sincerity in serving religion, race, and country,” he added. The UMNO president stressed that the party will continue to uphold its founding principles and remain steadfast in defending the interests of the nation and ensuring stability for future generations. “Then, now, and forever — UMNO will continue to be the House of the Nation,” he said. -- MINUTESMY -- SOURCE: FB ZAHID HAMIDI

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has stressed that UMNO will continue to remain the main platform for the Malay struggle as the party marks its 80th anniversary today. According to him, May 11, 1946, was a historic date that marked the birth of a major movement for the Malay community, one that has endured through changing times in defending religion, race and the homeland. Ahmad Zahid said the recent UMNO 80th Anniversary celebration held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) reflected the extraordinary spirit among party members from across the country. “The presence of thousands of members, the spirit displayed and the unwavering loyalty of the grassroots truly touched my heart,” he said in a statement issued in conjunction with UMNO’s anniversary today. He also expressed appreciation to UMNO members nationwide who have remained loyal to the party’s struggle despite the various political challenges, internal divisions and changing political landscape faced throughout its eight decades of existence. According to him, UMNO’s strength lies not merely in its name, but in the spirit and commitment of its members who continue to uphold the party’s core principles. KUALA LUMPUR: Ba'kelalan state assemblyman (ADUN) Baru Bian has filed an application to strike out the suit filed against him by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), which is seeking RM10 million in damages over alleged breach of bond conditions when he quit the party after winning the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018. The notice of application was filed through Messrs. YH Teh & Quek on April 6 on the grounds that the High Court of Malaya in Peninsular Malaysia did not have jurisdiction to hear the case because the cause of action arose in Sarawak. The court set May 20 for case management before High Court Judge Roslan Mat Nor. In the application, Baru Bian, who is also the former Member of Parliament for Selangau, said he signed the bond in Kuching on April 25, 2018 and his involvement with PKR was only focused on Sarawak. "The plaintiff's (PKR) actions against me, even if proven true, do not arise in Peninsular Malaysia. The claim arises in Sarawak," he said in the application. Baru Bian is among 16 former MPs and assemblymen who were sued by PKR Secretary-General Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh on behalf of PKR for allegedly violating the terms of a RM10 million bond signed with the party. Also named as defendants are Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar, Datuk Mansor Othman, Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah and Datuk Seri R. Santhara Kumar. Apart from that, Abdul Yunus Jamhari, Datuk Azman Nasrudin, Dr Afif Bahardin, Chong Fat Full, Daroyah Alwi, Haniza Mohamed Talha, Muhammad Hilman Idham, Muhammad Jailani Khamis, Robert Ling Kui Ee and Zulkifli Ibrahim were also named as defendants. In separate suits filed on Feb 19 and 27, PKR claimed that under the operative clause of the bond, each defendant agreed to pay the party RM10 million within seven days of the occurrence of any event including the defendant resigning from the party, joining another political party or becoming an independent elected representative. The plaintiff claimed to have nominated each defendant as a candidate to contest in the 14th GE and successfully won several Parliamentary and State Assembly seats, subsequently forming the Federal Government and several state governments. "However, on 24 Feb 2020, each of the defendants ceased to be party members after being elected under the party banner. They also expressed support for political coalitions other than PKR," PKR said in the statement of claim. PKR announced on March 11, 2020 that the party decided to terminate the membership of each defendant immediately and a certificate dated March 16, 2020 was issued to confirm that the membership of each defendant had been terminated and demanded that each defendant pay a bond of RM10 million, but they failed to do so.
