JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) has finalised its stance to contest using the Dacing logo in the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan State Elections (PRN). BN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the matter was among the five main decisions reached at the political coalition's Annual General Meeting at the Johor UMNO Liaison Office today. "The Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections are the main focus for BN, with the entire party machinery being mobilized comprehensively to ensure victory," he said in a statement tonight. The Higher Education Minister also reiterated his stance that BN remains steadfast in supporting the existing Unity Government until the end of its term. He said the commitment was important to guarantee the country's political stability, maintain the confidence of foreign investors and ensure the continuity of the economic development agenda for the well-being of the people. KUALA PILAH: Pakatan Harapan (PH) does not need to rely on the weaknesses of its opponents but rather focus on its own strengths to face this State Election (PRN), said PH Communications Director Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He said the leadership's instructions were clear that the party machinery needed to be strengthened based on its own capabilities without relying on external factors. "The weakness of the enemy does not mean that we are strong. So the directive from the leadership is that the machinery and forces within Pakatan Harapan must be strong themselves. "That is the philosophy we hold and of course we will evaluate the political dynamics from time to time. But the foundation is still Pakatan Harapan," he told reporters after officiating the AI@NADI programme at the Seri Menanti National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), Kampung Terachi Town Hall, Tanjung Ipoh here today. He said this when asked about PH's confidence in facing this election, especially in Negeri Sembilan, after taking into account the issue of the severance of political ties between Bersatu and PAS. SEREMBAN: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the people of Negeri Sembilan to give the coalition a mandate in the 16th State Election (PRN) to continue to govern the state. The Prime Minister said the support was important to enable the full mandate to be given to Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to be reappointed as Menteri Besar so that the state's future would be more secure. "Now, I ask for a mandate from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Government of Negeri Sembilan... for this mandate, Tok Min (Aminuddin Harun) is appointed as Menteri Besar. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said the Federal Government does not interfere in matters involving royal institutions in Negeri Sembilan, but rather all matters must be resolved in accordance with the Constitution and existing laws. He said that although there were various views regarding the monarchy system in the state, the Federal Government still respected the jurisdiction of the state government and the institution of the Yang Dipertuan Besar. "I know that in Negeri Sembilan there are those who disagree with my decision. I do not interfere, I do not interfere in state affairs," he said. SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has reminded the coalition's leaders and machinery not to betray the party if they are not selected as candidates in the 16th State Election (PRN). Aminuddin, who is also the chairman of the Negeri Sembilan PKR State Leadership Council (MPN), said all parties must accept the party's decision and continue to work to ensure PH's victory in the state. "To all party members and machinery, I beg you, whatever the name of the candidate and the one chosen by our leadership, do not betray them, continue to support them... this is a life and death struggle," he said when speaking at the PH Election Machinery Launching program here last night. PUTRAJAYA, June 12  -- The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting today to determine key dates and other matters related to the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections. The meeting, to be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, is scheduled to begin at 10 am at the EC headquarters here, followed by a press conference. Among the dates expected to be announced are those for the issuance of election writs, nomination day, early voting, polling day and the campaign period, as well as other preparations for the elections. On June 1, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the 56-seat Johor State Legislative Assembly after obtaining the consent of Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail. KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 -- UMNO will continue to support the Unity Government that was formed after the 15th General Election (GE15) until the next general election, in line with the decree of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, Kinfg of Malaysia. UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said this stance was decided during the UMNO Supreme Council (MKT) meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the UMNO President, at Menara Dato’ Onn here tonight. At the same time, he stated that the agreement to form the Unity Government at the Federal level does not bind any state government. According to him, the Johor State Government was formed before the creation of the Federal-level Unity Government and did not involve parties from Pakatan Harapan (PH). Asyraf Wajdi added that the decision by UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) to defend the state mandate is not a form of betrayal against the Federal Government, as claimed by certain parties. KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties PAS, Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) will hold urgent discussions this week on the future direction of the coalition following PAS’ decision to end its political cooperation with Bersatu. PN Information Chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the move was made after various efforts to sustain the PAS-Bersatu relationship failed to produce any meaningful change. However, he stressed that the decision only affects the taawun siyasi (political cooperation) between PAS and Bersatu and does not automatically impact PN as a coalition. “The position of PN will be discussed collectively among its component parties, particularly PAS, Gerakan and MIPP,” Annuar said in a Facebook post. He said PAS remains committed to multi-racial political cooperation and its agenda of mature and prosperous politics, while expressing appreciation for the positive role played by Gerakan and MIPP within PN. Annuar also stressed that any future decisions concerning the coalition must be guided by the PN constitution and collective consultation rather than the dominance or perceived superiority of any individual or political party. KUALA LUMPUR: PAS is likely to leave or be expelled from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition after deciding to end its collaboration with Bersatu, according to political analysts. Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Associate Professor Dr Mazlan Ali, said PAS cannot determine the direction of PN alone because the political coalition also includes Bersatu, Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP). "PAS only represents one voice... since PAS has severed ties with Bersatu, there is a possibility that the three component parties in PN will decide to expel PAS, and the coalition is expected to be led by Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," he told Bernama. He said PAS was likely to form a new political alignment to face the next election, thus further breaking the opposition bloc. KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — The United Indigenous Party of Malaysia (BERSATU) expressed its sadness following the decision of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) to cease political cooperation and sever ties with the party. BERSATU President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the decision was made at the request of PAS, even though the cooperation previously built was founded on noble spirit and understanding.
